"Dignity for the Talibés" is a one-month humanitarian program by the Aidons-Nous Vivants association to improve health, hygiene, nutrition, and living conditions for 83 talibés at the Daara Touba Faydou in Wakhandé, Bargny. Activities include medical checkups, hygiene awareness sessions, infrastructure repairs (roofs, toilets, living spaces), and distribution of hygiene kits, clothing, and food.

This program supports people with disabilities and visual impairments by providing orthopedic equipment, along with information, education, communication, training, and health rehabilitation support. Uniting and supporting these individuals helps them regain physical autonomy and promotes their social and professional integration.

This project helps residents learn a trade and earn income from their work, producing beautiful hand-stitched goods (bags, purses, sacs, pillowcases) sold at markets throughout Dakar. DWG has previously supported the Center's infrastructure, and this project would fund a large awning to reduce the strong light entering the workspace, which negatively affects some of the disabled workers.

Founded in 1998 by citizens with disabilities, this Ouakam-based center is led by a director who uses a wheelchair and primarily supports women in sewing activities. The center doubles as a shop, selling handmade products, especially batik bags of all sizes, at local fairs, and holds a contract with MiniBap to supply their pink paper-batik gift bags.

DWG’s grant funds office equipment, a desk, chair, and computer, for the Director and staff, helping the center professionalize its operations.

This center supports over 100 children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Originally founded on a system of tones, the center now teaches sign language. It is supported by the Ministry of Education and well cared for, though encouraged to seek outside funding for special projects.

This project, already underway as a pilot, provides chicks and chicken coop materials to teach the children to raise and sell chickens, a hands-on entrepreneurship activity. About half the budget covers electricity and water for the coop.tion goes here

Located near Hann, this school serves over 100 deaf students, nearly half of whom live on site. Founded by a Canadian woman, the school teaches in West African Sign Language and helps students build skills for future employment. DWG has previously supported this center.

This grant would fund blinds and other equipment needed for the school.

This organisation helps local women facing dire economic circumstances build sustainable livelihoods, drawing on its widespread and deep community network. DWG previously funded infrastructure improvements at their Dakar office, which the Environmental Team confirmed remains in good condition.

This grant targets 20 women in the Mbeubess-Malika area, whose local market was shuttered during Covid, providing a refrigerator and basic kitchen and food prep equipment so they can cook and sell food, along with training on how to market themselves effectively.

This new grantee is run by a group of young Senegalese men proposing a "Génie en Herbe" style quiz competition for schools in need, covering general education, civics, the environment, and other topics. Up to 10,000 children could be involved. A site visit found the volunteers impressive and dedicated, and the group is known to Irène.

The entire grant would fund a set of books for the winning schools.

This well-established and well-visited tortoise sanctuary, located between Dakar and the Lac Rose area, is home to tortoises ranging from newborns to over 100 years old, including especially endangered species brought in for protection.

This grant would support two initiatives: rebuilding pens to keep predators out, and installing new signage throughout the sanctuary to educate visitors.

This well-known, long-established "village" in the Lac Rose area was founded by a Frenchman and his Senegalese partner and serves as a bustling centre for reintegrating at-risk youth, including interning young men. Alongside school classes, it offers skills training in masonry, metalwork, woodwork, electricity, and more.

This project will refurbish a culinary area and introduce agricultural skills training, including for 35 girls, complementing a German development agency project that will refurbish the kitchen itself.
