What is the DWG?

The Dakar Women’s Group (DWG) is a registered, non-profit charitable organisation working to improve the well-being of communities in and around Dakar by focusing on social welfare, education, women and children’s health, cultural development, and entrepreneurship.

How do I become a member?

To become a member all you need is a minimum level of English from any nationality, fill out the membership form and pay the membership fee of 25,000 cfa (via cash, Wari or Orange Money) and most importantly be willing to lend your diverse talents, skills, and life experiences.

How do I pay for my membership?

How do I renew my membership?

How do I use DWG Marketplace?

After paying your membership fees, you can request to join our information network on the DWG Marketplace on Facebook. This platform can be used by members only to network or promote their business (only once per month), request information for specific services or products or sell items to other members.

Where and how to meet our members?

The DWG hosts various events such as neighbourhood coffee mornings, monthly meetings, committee meetings, as well as fun classes which are a great way to make acquaintance of members. Find all our upcoming events on our monthly newsletter and online.

I want to actively contribute as a member, which DWG committee do I join ?

The DWG has 4 major committees that are open to all members to join: Charity Committee ; Art Committee; Environmental Awareness Committee; and the Events Committee.

Where do I sign up to volunteer?

How much time am I required to volunteer for DWG?

Each DWG member is required to fulfil a minimum of 4 volunteer hours per club year. “Volunteers don’t have time, they have the heart”.

How do I get funding for my project?

How do I get to participate in the DWG Art Show?

The DWG selects at least 60 artists to participate in the annual DWG Art Show. If you’re talented artist send an email to the Art Committee with your full name, description of your artwork and a photo of one of your art pieces.

How do I become a vendor in one of the DWG Bazaars?

Send an email to the Events Committee to receive a vendors contract application for the upcoming event.

Who runs the DWG?

The DWG is an all-volunteer run organisation, the membership is the DWG. The Executive Committee is selected by members and responsible for the day to day activities of the organisation. They have the responsibility of developing policies and procedures for the organisation, acknowledge member’s needs and ensure that the over-arching mission of DWG is fulfilled.

How do I become a sponsor or donate to the DWG?

DWG is always in need of support for the success of various fundraising events throughout the year. These events require a lot of resources as in funds, services and sometimes products.
