IBRAHIMA GNINGUE
Ibrahima Gningue is a painter, arts teacher, graduate of the National School of Arts in Dakar. The artist is of Lebou origin residing in Bargny which this fact is reflected in his work with the Goumbé dance and the Ndawrasquine among Lebou women during ceremonies.
Ibrahima draws inspiration from scenes of society, culture, ethnicity, etc. And works most on the attire of Lebou women with those of dancers from Goumbé and Ndawrasquine, made with a collage of a balanced overall movement arms, body and feet.
The faces of his characters are painted in white because they pass in the background and recall the alabaster faces made up of the characters during the Tadjébone which is a typically Senegalese carnival. The work of the artist is based more on the costumes and the sublime ornaments composed of old terracotta beads or Venetian glass of libido and diibé.
Ibrahima is an artist who has participated in numerous exhibitions and projects in Africa and Europe, including the biennial Dak'art Off. Exhibition at the Hotel de Paris in Monaco, exhibition at the Antenna gallery in Dakar, exhibitions at the place du souvenir, at the Ifan museum with the DWG, exhibition at the artistic routes of st louis at the CRDS. Dak'art project entitled 3 x 3 three artists three projects, by renowned American artists (Maria Magdalena, Pamela and David Hammond) initiated by the American cultural center in Dakar.
Ibrahima has had awards for his work as an artist. Special jury prize in the painting competition organized by the cuomo foundation in Monaco. 1st prize in the competition entitled (Our families in the world) sponsored by the United Nation Population Funds
